If you fall under the legal presumption, you are, since 1 July 2005, under the obligation as a collaborating spouse to affiliate with the maxi-status (except for the bankruptcy insurance).

Note: legal spouses and partners with a co-habitation contract will receive equal status.

Exceptions

• You were born before 1956: as of 1 July 2005 you only need to affiliate for the mini-status.
  If you wish a more extensive coverage than the mini-status, you can voluntarily affiliate for the maxi-status (except for the bankruptcy insurance).
• Your spouse is taxed as the manager of a business: the status of collaborating spouse does not apply to you.
