Retirement age

Retirement age is 65.
As from July 1st 1997 the retirement age for women is the same as the retirement age for men.

For women, for whom 60 was the retirement age before July 1st 1997, the new regulation will be introduced gradually.

The retirement age for women is:

  • 63 years, if their retirement pension takes effect on January 1st 2003 at the earliest and on December 1st 2005 at the latest
  • 64 years, if their retirement pension takes effect on January 1st 2006 at the earliest and on December 1st 2008 at the latest

In practice, the retirement age for women will only be the same as for men as of January 1st 2009.
